School’s out, the sun might be shining, and summer plans are calling – but before you resign yourself to motorway meltdowns or airport chaos, here’s a hot tip: train travel is the unsung hero of the British summer holiday.

Right now, there’s £10 off every type of Railcard – from Family & Friends to Two Together, Young Persons to Senior. Quantities are limited, so don’t hang about!

Fn F Promo

Pair your railcard with TrainSplit’s clever fare-finding and you’ll save even more – leaving extra money for ice creams, castles, or that third round of crazy golf.

We’ve picked some top weekend-style summer breaks for every railcard. No car required. No passport needed. Just you, a good book, and a view from the window.

🚂 Family & Friends Railcard

Big days out. Smaller prices.

Family and Friends Railcard

Travelling with kids? This one’s a no-brainer. You get 1/3 off most adult fares and 60% off kids’ fares – and it covers up to 4 adults and 4 children, so even extended family days are sorted.

Summer ideas with the gang:

  • Tenby by train – Sandy beaches, colourful houses, and boat trips to Caldey Island.

  • The Eden Project – Get to St Austell and hop on a local bus. Educational and enormous.

  • York – Chocolate tours, Vikings, and the National Railway Museum (free!).

Fun extra: Travel by train = fewer meltdowns in traffic. Bring snacks and colouring books for bonus calm.

👯‍♀️ Two Together Railcard

Save when you travel as a pair – whoever you are.

Two Together Railcard

This one’s for best mates, couples, siblings, work BFFs – anyone over 16 who travels together often. You’ll both get 1/3 off most fares, as long as you’re on the same train.

Best paired-up breaks:

  • Whitby – Take the scenic Esk Valley Line. Go for the views, stay for the fish & chips.

  • Bath – Rooftop spa + Roman ruins = bliss.

  • Edinburgh Fringe – Comedy, chaos and culture, just off the train at Waverley.

Top tip: Both names are locked in once you buy, so choose your train buddy wisely!
